Northern College has seen a 13 per cent increase in applications over the previous year, a slight jump over the provincial average increase of 11 per cent.
The increase in interest arrives as Northern is set to complete its new Centre of Excellence in Trades and Technology at its Porcupine campus in September, and with a new Veterinary Sciences Centre having opened at its Haileybury campus. A revitalization strategy is also in place for its Kirkland Lake campus.
"Clearly, Northern College is fast becoming the college of choice in northeastern Ontario as college-aged youth and returning learners are seeing the value of continuing with higher studies as a means of increasing their success in finding employment," said Fred Gibbons, president of Northern College, in a release.
