Along with 17 area communities and a planning board, the City of Timmins will use the money to improve access to and the sharing of municipal information. This includes land data, commercial development areas, recreational locations, tourism attractions, and community infrastructure.
The information would be accessible by businesses, organizations and the public.
"We're very excited about the positive impact FedNor funding will have on Timmins and the region," said Timmins mayor Tom Laughren in a release.
"[This] announcement will lead to increased business activity in our region thanks to support from the Government of Canada."
