No progress made in Voisey's Bay talks

Talks between Vale Inco and union leaders in Voisey's Bay, Nfld. have broken down, failing to bring both sides to the bargaining table to resolve the five-month-old strike.

 
Talks between Vale Inco and union leaders in Voisey's Bay, Nfld. have broken down, failing to bring both sides to the bargaining table to resolve the five-month-old strike.

Vale Inco is considering training workers to restart some operations with non-unionized workers as it did in Sudbury, according to Reuters.

The Voisey's Bay union is stating its members will not negotiate until the company resumes talks with United Steelworkers members in Sudbury.

About 3,200 union members have been on strike in Sudbury since mid-July.
