A new technology firm is setting up shop in North Bay. Company officials will officially announce their plans Nov. 8 to open a facility in the city on Aviation Lane, near Jack Garland Airport.
An aerospace and industrial park is being developed in the airport area and city council recently approved spending $5.4 million to service vacant land there.
North Bay's two other industrial parks – Seymour Street and Gateway – are at or near capacity and the city has experienced significant industrial sector growth.
The new park will include both air-side and ground-side lots and close to 100 acres will be developed with sewer, water and roads. A potential total of 1,000 serviced acres has been identified by the city as a strategic long-term investment for North Bay.
Gap Construction Co. Ltd. has been awarded the contract which includes $2-million in funding from the provincial government and a matching federal contribution.
The city has already spent $7-million for a new water tower in the area to allow for the expansion of services.
