If the Sudbury District Motorsports Association has its way, the roar of airplanes isn't the only sound you'll hear near the local airport as it considers building a multi-purpose racing venue near the site.
The park would serve to attract racing events and fans to the region, as similar parks around the province are used for such things as drag racing, motocross and snow-cross, as well as stock car, karting and off-road events.
The province is providing $50,000 to the group to help fund a study looking at the suitability of the proposed site. It will also serve to prepare a business plan on operating the facility, and review all regulations required to launch a motorsport park in the region.
