The former Teck Pioneer Residence on Churchill Drive in Kirkland Lake will house Northern College students this September.
The upstairs wing will accommodate 27 students and expansion to the other wings of the building will occur as the need increases.
Northern College has partnered with Sandstone Management Inc., which acquired the former seniors' residence. The building is located about a 15-minute walk from the campus and will offer single and double rooms and some suites along with a laundry facility, common rooms and study areas.
David Gorman, Kirkland Lake campus manager, said the college will no longer have to turn students away due to lack of housing.
