The departure of two high-profile ministers in recent months has forced Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to shuffle his cabinet, affecting a number of portfolios.
The shuffle has moved the embattled Etobicoke Centre MPP Donna Cansfield out of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Another southern Ontario politician, Brampton Springdale MPP Linda Jeffrey, is now in the ministerial chair, something Kenora-Rainy River MPP and former NDP leader Howard Hampton has taken issue with in a press release.
Scarborough Centre MPP Brad Duguid has been moved into George Smitherman's former position that being the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure. There, he will tackle the province's efforts to integrate a stronger mix of green energy, while also further shepherding regional growth plans.
Duguid's prior portfolio of Aboriginal Affairs is being folded into Attorney General Chris Bentley's responsibilities.
North Bay MPP Monique Smith also received a promotion, moving from Tourism to Intergovernmental Affairs, while also becoming government house leader.
Northern Ontario's two other provincial ministers retain their spots, including Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci at Community Safety and Correctional Services, and Thunder Bay-Superior North MPP Michael Gravelle at Northern Development, Mines and Forestry.
