A new export development program is designed to increase the international profile of Northern Ontario mining supply and service companies.

Ontario`s North Economic Development Corporation (ONEDC) is partnering with the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry to launch its new Export Marketing Assistance Program.

It is geared to mining suppliers seeking to reach a more diverse national or international client base.

A recent mining supply study by DoyleTech Corporation revealed that 62 per cent of sales by supplies stay within Northern Ontario with many companies relying on only one or two customers.

This new program offers funding up to $10,000 to assist companies in covering their costs of developing new international and Canadian markets, outside of Ontario.

The program also offers one-on-one export advice for up to ten companies twice a year.

The next program intake is in August. For details go online at www.investnorthernontario.com.

The mining supply and service sector in Northern Ontario comprises about 500 companies and organizations, employing a workforce of 23,000 that produces a total output value projected at $5.6 billion.
