Mining contract receives safety award

A Kirkland Lake mining contractor has received an award of excellence in safety from Workplace Safety North.

A Kirkland Lake mining contractor has received an award of excellence in safety from Workplace Safety North.

Alex MacIntyre and Associates, one of the country's oldest mining contractors, was recognized for having the lowest total medical injury frequency of any mining contractor. It's the second time in four years the firm has won this category.

“To have the dedication and commitment from all our people to understand thjat being safe and sound everyday, is a culture we have been building at MacIntyre for a very long time,” said James McDougall, operations and safety manager.

The firm is a diverse mining contractor with work ranging from shaft sinking, underground production and development, alimak raising to underground mechanical and electrical construction and surface mining. It currently has operations in Ontario, Manitoba and New Brunswick.
