Miller Paving landed an $8.1 million provincial road contract for improvements to Highway 66 near Kirkland Lake.

A Jan. 18 Ontario government release said more than 11 kilometres are being reconstructed beginning this spring. The job should be finished by year's end.

The highway is the main link between Kirkland Lake and the province of Quebec, and is a vital corridor of mining and other local industry in the Timiskaming District.

The government said the contract will create more than 80 jobs.
