International Master Blaster Pat O'Connell will be sharing his extensive expertise in explosives handling during a one week seminar at the Kirkland Lake campus of Northern College.
His May 9-13 Blasting Techniques seminar is geared to prospectors, contractors and anyone involved with handling explosives safely.
Participants will learn about the new post 9/11 regulations in place surrounding the legal implications of handling explosives and will be introduced to the planning process of a blast site.
O'Connell is with Proconsul Mining Associates and has an extensive mining background in management, production, training, and research and development.
The seminar involves two-and-half days of field work at the Queenston Mine property near Dobie.
The seminar is presented by Northern College's famous Haileybury School of Mines; Apprenticeship, Workforce Development and Training Division in partnership with the Northern Prospectors' Association, Queenston Mining and Nordex Explosives.
