Meet the key players on Dryden's mining scene

Dryden and the Kenora district has become a focus of dozens of exploration companies in recent years.

Dryden and the Kenora district has become a focus of dozens of exploration companies in recent years.

There are more than 70 mineral exploration outfits operating in the Dryden area and it's providing spinoffs to local business with supply and service opportunities.

The Dryden Development Corporation and Eagle Lake First Nation want to keep the momentum going by hosting an information forum for area businesses.

The forum and trade show is set for Oct. 12 at two locations with afternoon and evening sessions.

The Eagle Lake First Nation Community Centre will be the first venue from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event shifts to the Dryden Regional Training and Cultural Centre for an evening session from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The forum will outline the mining sequence, local exploration activities, service and supply gaps, education and employment opportunities.

The session will include presentations from the Ontario Geological Survey, Activation Laboratories, Treasury Metals, Manitou Gold, Laurentian Goldfields and Eagle Lake First Nation.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. No registration is necessary. For details go online to www.exploredryden.ca and click on Events Calendar.
