In an April 29 release, the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry said the offers are part of the government's wood supply competition.

Domtar gets 626,000 cubic metres annually for softwood pulp production at its Dryden mill and to genrate electricity. The mill employs 331.

Wagner will receive 133,500 cubic metres per year for a proposed wood pellet plant in Ignace to sell pellets for heat and energy production to residential, commercial and industrial customers. The plant will be operating by October 2013 and will create 20 jobs.

Wagner Ontario is partnering with Lac Des Milles Lacs First Nation on the wood pellet project.
