Results from 44 drill holes at Lake Shore Gold Corp.'s (TSX:LSG) Timmins Mine have turned up mineralization outside the current resource model.
This includes intercepts of 7.6 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 13 metres and 8.8 g/t gold over 22.5 metres, intersected in a previously untested gap in the current resource model of the Ultramafic Zone between the 740 and 780 levels.
These results and other factors indicate that opportunities exist to re-interpret portions of the existing resource into a combination of high-grade and large bulk stoping blocks, possibly leading to more total ounces and an optimization of the mine plan.
The drilling represents the final 13 holes or 3,673 metres of drilling of the 88-hole 2009 program, and 31 holes or 3,954 metres of drilling from the ongoing 2010 campaign.
