Kirkland Lake Gold Inc. (TSX: KGI), which operates in the camp of the same name, has bolstered its ranks with the official appointment of Mark Tessier as chief operating officer and John Thomson as chief financial officer.
Tessier, a mining engineer with 30 years of underground mining experience, was brought into the company in 2008 as vice-president of operations.
He has driven the two-phase, 36-month development plan to increase production to 80,000-100,000 ounces in the first phase. This phase is underway, with the second phase projected to increase production to 180,000-200,000 ounces. Previously, he oversaw mine expansion and subsequent underground mine operations at Goldcorp's Red Lake Mine between 1999 and 2006.
Thomson, a chartered accountant, has served as interim CFO of the company for nearly five years.
He currently serves as director of a number of companies, including Belvedere Resources Limited, Parragon Publishing Limited, and Rambler Metals and Mining PLC, among others.
