Crackling and popping sounds can be heard from inside Rainy River Cereal after $47,640 arrived at the Fort Frances wild rice cereal company.

Quickly expanding with glee is Stanley’s Foam Insulation of Vermilion Bay, thanks to $50,000 in funding for the spray foam insulation business.

They'll be praising the Lord for $44,325 and passing the cabbage rolls at the Finland Corners Family Restaurant, a 30-seat restaurant and convenience store in Emo.

"Launching a new business can be a daunting challenge, especially for new entrepreneurs," said Rick Bartolucci, Minister of Northern Development and Mines and chairman of the NOHFC, in a Dec. 19 release.

"Our support is helping to put the dream of business ownership within the reach of many Northerners and encouraging a new generation to build their future close to home."
