Truck and engine distributor Harper Power Systems has been acquired by Mississauga's Wajax Corporation's Power Systems division for $21.6 million.
Effective May 2, Wajax will assume the operation of Harper's 10 Ontario branches including Sudbury and Timmins.
The business will be rebranded as Wajax Power Systems.
Harper is the Ontario distributor for Detroit Diesel, Mercedes-Benz, Deutz engines and MTU engines and onsite generator sets.
Wajax is presently the authorized Canadian distributor of these lines except for portions of British Columbia.
Wajax president and CEO Neil Manning called the acquisition a major step for his company.
“This is a very significant acquisition for Wajax Power Systems. Through Harper's established business, we are gaining a significant presence in the Ontario market where we previously had limited coverage.”
