The province is providing the municipality of Greenstone and its economic development corporation with $10,000 to stage a workshop to identify business opportunities in the mining sector.

The money comes from Ontario's Northern Communities Investment Readiness Program.

Presenters will include representatives of companies active in mineral development in the nearby Greenstone gold belt and farther north at the 'Ring of Fire' in the James Bay Lowlands.

A March 2 Northern Development, Mines and Forestry news release stated NCIR funding helped attract a mineral assay lab to the Greenstone which provided 15 jobs.
