Greenstone mining show slated for Thunder Bay

The municipality of Greenstone is hosting a mining expo in Thunder Bay this spring to showcase development and job opportunities in this rural northwestern Ontario community.

The municipality of Greenstone is hosting a mining expo in Thunder Bay this spring to showcase development and job opportunities in this rural northwestern Ontario community.

Greenstone is slated to be the site of a future logistics staging base and transload facility for handling chromite and other minerals coming from the future Ring of Fire mining camp in the James Bay lowlands.

Organized by the municipality and the Greenstone Labour Market Working Group, the Grow Greenstone Expo takes place at the Victoria Inn in Thunder Bay, March 25 and 26.

The event includes a networking event of mining and exploration companies, a workforce attraction summit. and a procurement and investment forum.

The municipality will also outline its growth plan.

“I believe that this is a very positive event and will give a larger market the opportunity to learn more about the Greenstone region,” said Mayor Renald Beaulieu in a press release.

The municipality of 4,700 is 150 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay.

The event is open to the public at no cost.
