Zenyatta Ventures has hired Peter Wood as its vice-president of exploration.

Wood, who has more than 25 years in mineral exploration and development in base metals and gold, will oversee the company's exploration programs in Manitoba and at its Albany graphite deposit, west of Hearst and near the Constance Lake First Nation.

"The addition of a seasoned geologist such as Peter Wood is very important for the implementation of the company's growth strategy," said president-CEO Aubrey Eveleigh in a Jan. 16 statement. "He brings extensive experience and leadership to the Zenyatta technical team."

Wood will be focusing on defining a NI 43-101 resource at the Albany deposit and preparing for a pre-feasibility study.
The company is also supporting a Lakehead University research program, involving its mineralogy and experimental lab, in studying the characteristics of the deposit.

Zenyatta said the Albany project is the largest and only known "vein type" graphite deposit under development in the world.
