Sage Gold has a permit in hand to re-open the Clavos gold mine in Timmins.

In a Nov. 20 release, the company reported the environmental compliance approvals have arrived from the Ministry of Environment comprising a permit to take water and an industrial sewage works approval, along with an air approval granted under the Environmental Protection Act.

The company's closure plan has been filed to the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. The permit allows Sage to dewater the mine, continue advanced exploration and development and commence production at 700 tonnes per day.

Sage is expecting to finish a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) by the end of 2012.

The project is a 60-40 joint venture between Sage and St Andrew Goldfields, respectively. Both companies are jointly funding Clavos.

Sage has near-term production and exploration properties in Timmins with its Clavos and Lynx deposits. The company has other exploration properties in the Beardmore-Geraldton gold camp.
