As part of a growing trend of Northern Ontario firms seeing outside ownership, Vancouver-based PBK Architects Inc. has acquired ANO Architects Inc., an consulting firm based in Timmins and Sudbury.

PBK Architects Inc. is the architectural services business partner for the Montreal-based engineering firm GENIVAR, who in recent years has acquired several firms in the North.

In February, the company acquired Thunder Bay's Cook Engineering.

ANO Architects has 25 staff across its two offices, and has worked extensively through the North on a variety of sectors, including the original design of Collège Boréal's Sudbury campus as well as several recent upgrades to the school's facilities.

It has also overseen the design of Cedar Meadows Resort in Timmins, the Lady Dunn Hospital in Wawa, and the Peetabeck Academy in Fort Albany, to name a few.
