The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is contributing $99,910 towards promoting francophone tourism in northeastern Ontario. The Chambre Economique de l'Ontario (CEO) believes there is a largely untapped domestic and international francophone market for areas of interest in Timmins/James Bay, Temiskaming, Mattawa/Sturgeon Falls, Sudbury and Elliot Lake/North Shore. The CEO is teaming up with a number of public- and private-sector organizations to undertake a comprehensive marketing plan known as Destination Nord to promote French-language services through brochures, advertising, trade shows and a Web site.
