Francophone business community gets boost

FedNor has announced funds to increase entrepreneurial opportunities for francophones who have immigrated to Northern Ontario from other countries.

FedNor has announced funds to increase entrepreneurial opportunities for francophones who have immigrated to Northern Ontario from other countries.

A grant of $68,500 will allow the Réseau de développement économique et d’employabilité de l’Ontario (RDÉE Ontario) to train and mentor francophone immigrants on various business startup activities, such as business planning and market research.

The program extends its reach to Northern Ontario's Official Language Minority Communities (OLMC), which consist of francophones living outside of Quebec.

"This funding will help more francophone immigrants to successfully start their own business in Northern Ontario, a challenge that requires training focused on business management and support for starting and operating a business,” Denis Laframboise, president of RDÉE Ontario, said in a news release.

"This FedNor support will allow the RDÉE Ontario to equip francophone immigrants with the necessary tools to create and maintain businesses and be effective in the world of business.”
