A focus group being held this week in Sault Ste. Marie will gather input from stakeholders on the marketing of locally produced goat (chevon) and lamb.

The group takes place on Thursday, June 23 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, June 24 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at The Speak Easy at Algoma University. Everyone who is interested in locally produced goat and lamb is urged to attend.

“If you purchase lamb or chevon on a regular basis, this would be an excellent opportunity to tell local producers what you're looking for,” Broderick Causley, NORDICK research and marketing assistant, said in a news release.”

The focus group is seeking to determine consumption preferences, as well as how local producers could meet consumers' needs. Information gleaned from the focus group will help determine the feasibility of a market-based co-operative for lamb and meat goat producers in the Algoma District.
