A busy forest fire season in the North has meant a profitable quarter for Discovery Air.
The Yellowknife-headquartered aviation services company announced strong results in its second quarter statement.
Revenues for the quarter, ending July 31, were up 23 per cent compared to $57.7 million record during the same period last year.
Year-to-date revenues are up 29 per cent over 2010 with $107.9 million posted in 2011.
The company attributed increased forest fire suppression activity in Northern Ontario and strong demand for airborne training and special mission services for the Canadian military for the strong quarter.
Discovery Air operates a roster of companies specializing in charter services, oil and gas exploration, maintenance and repair, and airborne training.
