The Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport is receiving $484,650 from FedNor towards the construction of a new hangar and to extend “fire suppression services.”
Tony Clement, MP for Parry Sound–Muskoka and Minister for FedNor, made the announcement Nov. 16.
"Business development at the Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport is a proven economic driver for this region and the Harper Government is proud to support the ongoing expansion of this important facility," said Clement in a statement.
Once the 10,000-square-foot hangar is built, it will be leased to Eagle Aircraft Inc. to accommodate its expansion from Toronto Island Airport to the Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport. The expansion will create five jobs.
"It’s an exciting time at the Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport and today’s announcement will help us build on the positive economic momentum we continue to generate," said David Conn, Mayor of Seguin Township.
