Federal Industry Minister Tony Clement, MP for Parry Sound-Muskoka, delivered $1.5 million to his home riding to support small business development and growth in Parry Sound.

"Our government knows that a strong Canada is built on strong community foundations," said Clement in a Jan. 5 release.

"That's why we are pleased to support local partners such as Community Futures Development Corporations, to stimulate economic growth and job creation in Parry Sound. The investments announced today will help this airport, as the hub of the community, as well as local businesses to continue to thrive."

The Parry Sound Area Community Business and Development Centre received $1 million to offer access to capital for new and existing small and medium-sized businesses in the form of repayable loans, equity and loan guarantees. The remaining $495,000 will support the expansion of vital infrastructure at the Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport, enabling area municipalities to capitalize on immediate and long-term development opportunities.

"This FedNor investment will help create jobs and enable us to assist local entrepreneurs looking to develop and grow their businesses,” said Lorne Campbell, chair of the Parry Sound Area Community Business and Development Centre.

"The support provided by the Parry Sound Area Community Business and Development Centre, FedNor, IRAP and the Scientific Research and Development Institute have been one of the key components to ensuring Found Aircraft's business development and growth," said Tony Hamblin, president, Found Aircraft Canada. "Their help has contributed to our ability to continue to support some 35 full-time jobs in our community."
