FedNor director general Louise Paquette has tendered her resignation Jan. 4 and will be taken a job as the new CEO of the North East Local Health Integration Network (NE LHIN) effective March 1.
In an LHIN media release, Paquette was chosen for her experience as a “results-oriented executive” and her leadership skills over 30 years in leading “organizations in transition.”
She will be the fourth director of LHIN since the provincially-funded regional health planning board was established in April 2006.
She replaces interim CEO Terry Tilleczek, a LHIN director, who took the position July 2009 following the sudden resignation of Remy Boudoin.
“We are looking for a visionary, someone with an acute business sense, a relationship builder, a team player and a strong sensitivity and awareness of the people and communities of northeast Ontario,” said board chairman Peter Vaudry in a statement. “We found it all in Louise.”
Paquette is travelling in Africa and was unavailable for comment.
In an e-mail to FedNor staff Paquette said she leaves the job after 12 years with “mixed emotions.”
“This is a very difficult decision. I have been fortunate to work with all of you community-minded people who share my passion and vision for Northern Ontario.
“Together, we have delivered unparalleled results and pushed ourselves and the organization to be the best we could be. There is a great team spirit at FedNor, one that is firmly rooted in strong values and a true sense of commitment.
“I leave this organization with gratitude for the privilege of having worked with an exceptional management team who have both supported and inspired me.”
Her replacement has not been named.
On Jan. 6, Industry Canada, the federal department that oversees the Northern Ontario development funding agency, declined to comment on Paquette's departure and on the future direction of the organization.
“We generally don't issue any comment on human resources matters,” said spokeswoman Lauren Ehrenworth.
