No injuries were reported following an explosion at the Essar Algoma Steel plant in Sault Ste. Marie on Monday night and regular operations have resumed.
The eruption occurred around 10:30 at night when hot slag came into contact with standing water at the number seven blast furnace.
A number of small fires ignited by the blast were extinguished by firefighters, and regular operations had resumed by Wednesday.
No structural damage was sustained as a result of the incident.
