The City of Dryden announced that the sale of its landline and Internet assets of Dryden Municipal Telephone System (DMTS) to Bell Aliant is now complete.
In a joint January 2 release, the municipality and Bell Aliant said the transition will be as seamless as possible.
"For customers it is business as usual, and should any changes be required, there will be direct, advance communications to customers."
Dryden council granted authorization for the transaction to take place last October. Bell Aliant offered to buy the landline and Internet assets for $4.5 million.
DMTS has been operating as a city department since 1912.
In a separate deal, Tbaytel of Thunder Bay bought the "customers assets" of Dryden Mobility last fall. That purchase price has not been disclosed.
