Domtar wins environmental award from national mailing association

The National Association of Major Mail Users, which represents the business interests of the Canadian mailing industry's end users, has given Domtar a 2010 Environmental Award for its "Paper Because" campaign.

The National Association of Major Mail Users, which represents the business interests of the Canadian mailing industry's end users, has given Domtar a 2010 Environmental Award for its "Paper Because" campaign.

Launched this year, Domtar's sweeping initiative seeks to promote the responsible use of paper as a sustainable, personal and purposeful medium. Advertisements appear in major Canadian and US print and online media, supported a dedicated microsite at www.paperbecause.com.

The association's Environmental Awards distinguish leadership, innovation and results achieved in making the mailing industry as environmentally friendly as possible.

This follows on other kinds of recognition Domtar has seen this year for its environmental efforts.

In October, Domtar was listed as one of the "100 Greenest Companies in America" by Newsweek Magazine. Green scores were a combination of environmental impact, green policies, and a reputation survey score. The company ranked 95 out of the 500 largest U.S. publicly held companies as determined by a combination of market cap, revenue and number of employees.
