The mayor of the Township of Schreiber wants residents to attend an important town hall meeting May 31 “to discuss the financial status and future” of the community of 900 on Lake Superior's North Shore.
The municipality has eliminated its community development officer and three other positions.
In a statement, Mayor Don McArthur, who called the meeting after announcing the layoffs, said as council and management worked through the budget, “it became obvious that it could not be business as usual for 2011.”
