Development VP joins Sault innovation centre

The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre has appointed Jason Naccarato to the role of vice-president of development. Naccarato will lead market development initiatives in science and technology, including the Algoma Games for Health initiative.

The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre has appointed Jason Naccarato to the role of vice-president of development. Naccarato will lead market development initiatives in science and technology, including the Algoma Games for Health initiative.

Hailing originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Naccarato holds a project management professional (PMP) designation, in addition to an MBA from Wayne State University. He completed his honours bachelor of engineering science degree in mechanical/materials engineering from the University of Western Ontario, and has vast business and technical expertise.

“Jason’s significant corporate experience, education background and passion for our community make him a great fit to lead our market development activities,” Tom Vair, executive director of the innovation centre, said in a news release. “We see tremendous opportunity for the science and technology sectors in our region and we are pleased to have Jason return to Sault Ste. Marie to join our team.”
Areas of expertise include advanced development, engineering, project management, and purchasing and procurement. Prior to joining the innovation centre, Naccarato held positions with Magna as the advanced purchasing and business development team leader, Nissan North America as senior program controller in cost economics, Nissan Technical Centre North America as cost reduction project manager, and Siemens VDO in engineer-dynamometer test and production support.
“I am eager to embrace the challenges of this new position and to utilize my strategic thinking to help our team bring further prosperity to the Sault Ste. Marie area,” Naccarato said in the release. "I am elated to return to the city where I was born and raised to serve the community.”
Naccarato will be based out of the innovation centre's headquarters in the new Biosciences and Technology Convergence Centre located on the Algoma University campus.
