Community development officers from across Ontario are converging on Thunder Bay in mid-June. The 17th annual Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations conference will be held at the Valhalla Inn, June 10 to 12.

The 17th annual Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations conference will be held at the Valhalla Inn, June 10 to 12.

The event is themed "Aboriginal in Nature," and features teaching sessions on the advancement of First Nation people in the workforce and Aboriginal participation in mining.

Among the featured speakers is Tim Twomey, geologist and exploration manager at Premier Gold Mines, who will speak on partnerships with Aboriginal communities and challenges the mining industry is facing because of "inadequate direction from government legislation."
