Ontario high school students have until March 20 to enter the So You Think You Know Mining video contest, which encourages students to explore the ways in which mining affects their lives.

Ontario high school students have until March 20 to enter the So You Think You Know Mining video contest, which encourages students to explore the ways in which mining affects their lives.

The fifth annual competition offers $36,500 in cash prizes for students who enter a two- to three-minute video explaining the benefits mining brings to society.

Students are encouraged to explore a range of benefits, from economic growth and employment opportunities to beneficial end uses of mining products.

Judges will consider originality and creativity, accuracy, efficacy in delivery, production quality and adherence to competition rules.

Entries received by March 6 will be eligible for the $500 early-bird prize. Voting will take place April 8 to May 31 and the most popular video will receive theĀ $2,500 People's Choice Award.
