Eastern Ontario MPP Randy Hillier is keeping up his attacks on the McGuinty government to repeal Bill 191, the Far North planning and protection act.
In a March 24 release, the MPP for Lanark, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington called on the government to abandon the legislation which sets aside half (225,000 square kilometres) of the Crown land north of the 51st parallel for conservation.
Hillier said the legislation jeopardizes potential mineral development in the 'Ring of Fire' of the James Bay Lowlands.
"It's time for the government to own up to, and end, their contradictions," said Hillier, who serves as the Progressive Conservative party critic for Northern Development, Mines and Forestry.
