Northern College has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) establishing an innovative partnership with Collège Boréal, Confederation College and Fleming College focusing on program delivery primarily within the field of environment and natural resources. 

This agreement reinforces member colleges’ commitment to collaboration, including the sharing of best practices in teaching and learning, organizational sustainability, community engagement, curriculum and programming tools. 

Northern College President Fred Gibbons signed the MOU via videoconference along with Collège Boréal President Denis Hubert-Dutrisac, Confederation College President Jim Madder and Fleming College President Tony Tilly, demonstrating the four institutions’ dedication to utilizing technology to overcome geographical barriers and foster an innovative and synergistic environment.

“One of the hallmarks of Northern College is our commitment to collaboration with other institutions,” said Fred Gibbons, rresident of Northern College. “The foundation of Northern Ontario’s economy is heavily weighted on natural resources, therefore growing partnerships and enhancing educational opportunities in this sector will benefit students, employers and the communities we serve.”

This agreement enhances the capacity for a broader range of learning opportunities for residents and communities in Northern Ontario, paving the way for co-operative programming that is jointly delivered and designed to improve student access and success.
