In recognition of the 7,700 people employed across the nearly 2,000 small businesses across Timmins, city officials have declared the week of Oct. 20 - 24 to be "Small Business Week."
"Small Business Week provides the opportunity to celebrate small business and its ability to be an economic driver in our city, our province and ultimately the country," said Rob Galloway, president of the Timmins Chamber of Commerce, in a release.
To hail small businesses and to help them prepare for the future, a number of events are being held across the city throughout the week.
Events still to be held include an hour-long discussion on how to use the Internet to market a small business, to be held at Siva's Restaurant from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, and a review of the Venture Centre's annual accomplishments, to be held at Cedar Meadows from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.
