George Burton has been selected as the new president and CEO of Canadore College in North Bay.
Burton is currently the vice-president of enrolment management and student services at Loyalist College in Belleville. Previously he was a Canadore student and worked in several leadership roles in Canadore's registrar's office in the 1980s.
Burton has also worked in the private sector in senior management assignments with Canada Trust Financial Services and with Telmar HMS Ltd. as an executive vice-president. He is an established speaker and author of several professional articles on learning.
In a Canadore press release, the college's board of governors described Burton's leadership style as "hands-on, honest, open, straightforward, collaborative and respectful."
Burton officially steps into the president's office on July 15.
