A Cambrian College graduate of the civil engineering technician program has received a prestigious technology award.
Luis Garcia is the 2011 recipient of the Carole and George Fletcher Foundation Award, which is sponsored by the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
The awards recognize outstanding students studying in the sciences and technology fields at colleges across Ontario.
Garcia received the award, which includes a $1,000 scholarship and certificate of recognition, on May 26 from Brent Eckert, a civil engineering professor and member of the Cambrian College board of directors.
Garcia will return to Cambrian in the fall to attain his civil engineering technology diploma. He's currently working with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) through a student placement program that provides work experience over the course of three summers.
