Collège Boréal in Sudbury is hosting a series of safety courses in November and December.
The 0-8-ton mobile crane operator training course will be held Nov. 27-28 and participants will learn how to safely and effectively operate a mobile crane, attachments and related components.
The one-day hoisting and rigging awareness course will be held Dec. 5 and will prepare trainees to make lifts safely in industrial environments such as mining, construction and service shops at whatever level designated to their occupation.
On Dec. 6, the college will host a forklift course that meets all legislation requirements, including operator skill performance in defensive driving technics, operator responsibilities and daily pre-operational visual inspection methods. Also, safe handling of liquid propane cylinders and maintaining compliance at all times to regulatory authorities.
The ladder, scaffolding and fall arrest course will be held Dec. 10, and will prepare trainees on setting up ladders and erecting scaffolding, temporary platforms along with the proper use of wearing the fall arrest system when working from heights.
