Sudbury is becoming a film production hotspot and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC) is part of the big ticket.

Montefiore Films received $644,058 from NOHFC for its latest production, Cas & Dylan, a Jason Priestley-directed feature film production that's now creating about 50 jobs for local residents working as extras, crew and production staff.

Over the last two years, NOHFC has dumped almost $5 million into Sudbury for film and television production.

Shooting Star Media received $880,366 for its film, Split Decision; First Generation Films pocketed $470,000 for The Lesser Blessed; Black Walk Corp. grabbed $1 million for its television production of Dark Rising, Savage Tales of Summer Vale; Film Works International garnered $966,948 for its film, the Riverbank; and Vortex Words + Pictures received $1 million for The Truth.
