Sudbury-based Bestech has been recognized by Workforce Planning for Sudbury and Manitoulin for its work with area students.

The company received a 2012 Employer Stellar Award, which recognizes businesses and organizations that bridge the partnership between business/industry (as potential employers) and schools/students to provide opportunities that develop the future workforce by providing co-op placements and apprenticeships. Bestech was nominated by the Employment Centre at Collège Boréal.

“We are thrilled to be honoured as a community employer and we will continue to look to our local educational institutions to complement our current team of professionals,” Marc Boudreau, co-CEO of Bestech, said in a news release.

“The talent that comes from our local schools is incredible! Bestech has hired so many brilliant individuals which we found right in our own backyard,” he added. “Our partnerships with the various colleges and universities will allow us to maintain access to top students who are expertly trained, while the students will be able to further expand their knowledge by gaining work experience in their field of study.”

Bestech hosted 13 co-op placement students last summer and recently contributed $25,000 over the next five years to the college’s capital fundraising campaign.

With offices in Sudbury, Timmins and Toronto, Bestech specializes in the areas of engineering, automation, software development and environmental monitoring to assist the international mining industry.
