FedNor Minister Tony Clement announced federal funding of $5 million for the Laurentian School of Architecture during a visit to Sudbury on Sept. 21.
“By helping establish Canada’s first school of architecture in more than 40 years right here in Northern Ontario, the Harper Government is delivering on its commitment to develop a competitive and diversified economy, create jobs and support long-term growth and prosperity,” said Minister Clement in a news release.
“This investment will help revitalize Sudbury’s downtown core, create new business opportunities throughout the region and deliver long-term economic results by promoting and encouraging the use Northern Ontario wood products as part of the curriculum.”
The announcement comes a week after the Sudbury Construction Association donated $25,000 towards the school to go towards student scholarships.
