Ontario Regional Chief Angus Toulouse has been re-elected to serve a second three-year term by the Chiefs in Assembly at an All Ontario Chiefs Conference held in Batchewana on July 8.
Toulouse is Ojibway from the Sagamok Anishinawbek First Nation, located southwest of Massey, 75 kilometres east of Blind River. He has represented Ontario as an elected member of the Assembly of First Nations' national executive committee since June 2005.
"First Nations leadership in Ontario want significant changes and improvements for their peoples and communities through implementation of their treaty rights based on their treaty relationships with the Crown," said Toulouse in a release.
The conference continues through to July 9, and involves discussions on such wide-ranging topics as resource revenue sharing, treaty implementation and strategies to deal with the risk First Nations communities face with regards to the H1N1 virus.
