Algoma University is expanding its academic programming to St. Thomas, ON, and will offer students the first two years of its bachelor of arts program.
St. Thomas is a community of roughly 36,000, located 40 minutes south of London.
The school will operate out of a former elementary school, which closed last year to make room for parking at city hall. The availability of courses will allow students to remain in their home community while studying at a post-secondary level, and the expectation is that the students will then complete their studies at Algoma.
The building will undergo renovations to accommodate the new students, and is expected to be ready by the fall of 2012.
