Hearst will host a networking event on Dec. 27 in an attraction and retention effort geared towards young professionals, future grads and skilled trade graduates.

During the evening event, hosted at the Inovo Centre, employers will present their organization, promote their available jobs and meet the young professionals. Participating employers include Tembec Inc., Columbia Forest Products, Foyer des Pionniers Nursing Home, La Maison Verte, Pepco, Villeneuve Construction, Notre-Dame Hospital, and Morin Construction Ltd.

The effort comes after data from the last census showed Hearst’s population has decreased by 9.6 per cent. Of that, six per cent was comprised of people between the ages of 15 and 34. The networking event is designed to help recruit young professionals back to the community.

The event is a project of Destination Hearst, an initiative of the Hearst Economic Development Corp., which has mandate to facilitate the growth of local businesses, to offer support to individual and collective entrepreneurship and too actively promote the Town of Hearst attractiveness in order to entice new businesses.
