Sault airport gets money for power upgrades

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport has received $360,868 for upgrades to its airside electrical power systems. The federal funding, announced July 20 by Transport Minister Marc Garneau, comes from the Airports Capital Assistance Program.

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport has received $360,868 for upgrades to its airside electrical power systems.

The federal funding, announced July 20 by Transport Minister Marc Garneau, comes from the Airports Capital Assistance Program.

Since 1995, the airport has received more than $9.1 million for 19 safety projects, including the new equipment, building modifications, and the rehabilitation of runways and taxiways.

The work continues a long period of upgrades for the airport. In 2015, the facility got expanded passenger waiting and screening areas, an additional checkout counter, and a new hold room, which included washrooms and a new food provider.
