Since Porter Airlines touched down in Thunder Bay in 2009, they’ve been rewarded with a million passengers between the northwestern Ontario city and the regional airline’s hub at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

To return the favour, Porter will add a sixth daily flight between the two airports come Sept. 6.

“Since we began Thunder Bay service in 2009, passengers have continued to embrace our convenient schedule and affordable fares,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines in a July 26 news release, after the one-millionth passenger departed Thunder Bay that afternoon on Flight #634.

To mark that milestone, that passenger received a pair of roundtrip tickets to any Porter destination.

“Our entire team is grateful for each of the one-million trips people have chosen to fly with us and we are committed to providing the service they have come to expect from us,” said Deluce.

“Porter has played a vital role in connecting Thunder Bay to downtown Toronto and select destinations throughout Canada and the United States,” said Ed Schmidtke, president-CEO of Thunder Bay Airport Authority. “With Porter’s help, Thunder Bay is better connected to business, culture, vacation fun and family.”
